RBK Daily – Advice from Vardanyan
Yesterday it was announced the Russo-Armenian investment banker, Ruben Vardanyan, will become the first Russian member of the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). According to RBK Daily, the internationally-renowned businessman will step down from his current position as an advisor to the President of Sberbank, to advise the IFC on investment policies.
As former director and key shareholder of Troika Dialogue, the largest investment bank in new Russian history, Vardanyan earned a reputation working closely with the IFC on protocols and industry regulations. Vardanyan is an extremely influential figure in Russia’s capital markets. To name a few of his previous prominent roles, Vardanyan served as Executive Officer of URSA Bank, Chairman of RVC (OJSC) and Chairman of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company.
This announcement ties in well with my previous post regarding UKTI. It is another great example of how global finance organisations are starting to recognise Russian businessmen as reputable and valuable contributors to the world economy. :)
